Eat food Drink beer Celebrate St. Patrick‘a Day! or….. the day after

The Shamrock is a symbol of the holy trinity

So I’m a day late on St Patrick’s day! but we did not have our traditional dinner and had other plans so I sufficed with a beer in revelry. But today we feast! St Patrick’s day is traditionally celebrated with “The Feast of Saint Patrick” on the 17th of March which it’s the day he died.

St. Patrick beyond all the traditions and quasi traditions was first and foremost a man that served the Lord and is credited with spreading Christianity across Ireland. And here are a few more facts about the Saint:

  • He probably did not drive all the snakes from Ireland
  • He was a slave before escaping to Ireland
  • He was British not Irish
  • He wore blue not green
  • His symbol was a shamrock which was used to to illustrate the holly trinity The Father, Son and Holy Ghost
  • He lived 300 years after Christ
  • Corned beef is not traditional, when Irish immigrants came to the USA “corning” was a popular way to preserve meat but fell out of favor in Ireland long ago.

So feast and celebrate Christianity spreading across Ireland. Drinking beer is tradition as it was a preservation of the grain so tip a few of those two. But not Green beer there is nothing natural about that. Oh and have soup today it helps with that head ache so many of us come down with on the 18th
