Doors, the closing, the opening and the infinite

Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

When I was younger, I really enjoyed the band, “The Doors”. What I really enjoyed was thinking along the lines of consciousness explored in their songs. It was really an introduction to understanding of perception and consciousness as their name comes from and Aldous Huxley quote about the doors of perception which he took from William Blake.

"If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite."

The verse above from Jeremiah gives me particular solace. I don’t worry, as much, as I used to. I don’t have that negative self talk any more about how I’m not doing enough or that I’m not measuring up to others. My path is mine and it’s laid out for me to discover.

I enjoyed a lot of the philosophical outlooks around the understanding who we are but through my study of cultures and religions I came up short of answers.

That is until I moved my life from trusting only in myself to trusting in the Lord and his plan. I won’t claim to have it figured out but I will say I have a lot fewer unsettled questions and find comfort in asking God for his help. Right now, even if you are far from a real knowing of Christ, God is closing doors that need to be closed and opening others for you. There is a path and a plan for all of us. This plan may not be one we have contemplated but it is laid out for us to glorify God and for us to prosper. May we all walk with the confidence that Paul had when he spread the word to far off and unknown places so long ago. And remember that our possibilities for the future are infinite.
